Tropic Lightning News 5 Aug 1966 reports him as receiving the Purple Heart

We have no record what his job was. He is not on the LRRP roster. SP5's were not generally in the Aerorifles, so he may have been a Door Gunner.

Obituary: Loren Arthur Nix, resident of Midwest City, graduated to Heaven on March 21, 2019. He was 73 years
old. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday March 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Candlewood Chapel, Ford
Funeral Home in Midwest City, OK. Loren was born on September 24, 1945 in Lawton, Oklahoma to
Leonard A. Nix and Mariam (Jones) Nix. He graduated from Lawton High School in Lawton, Oklahoma.
He joined the United States Army on March 17, 1964 and was honorably discharged on March 15, 1968.
He married Kathy (Henderson) Nix on July 25, 1987. He worked as a truck driver for Nabisco and retired
from there after many years of service.

Loren was an avid Oklahoma University football fan. He enjoyed going to breakfast with his Nabisco
friends and visiting family in Lawton. He loved fishing and watching his favorite tv shows with his dog
Toby. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn and becoming friends with all the neighbors. Loren will always
be remembered for his infectious smile and mischievous personality, as well as his loving and giving
spirit.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, of the home ; two daughters; Keri Nix of the home and Lori Nix of Oklahoma City; his son, Larry Nix and wife, Meagan, of Eden, North Carolina; two brothers; Jim Nix of Lawton, OK and Dee Nix and wife Beverly, of Lawton, OK, Brother in-law John Henderson and wife Zela of Broken Arrow, OK; Sister in-law Robbye Nix of Lawton, OK; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves countless other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Leonard Nix; mother, Mariam Nix; sister, Wanda Johnson; brothers, Robert Nix and Leon Nix; sister in law, Daviline Nix; brother in-law, Ernest Johnson; son, Chief Warrant Officer Shane Colton
and grandson, Lance Colton.
