Info Sheet/Obit - CPT Marvin E. Runyon

comments: Jim Kirker

runyonMarvin started out driving a slick then moved to the Aeroweapons Platoon.

Sometime in 1969, all of the Cobras were put into a single platoon.

He flew Tail # 107 with the 20mm..

Obitary notes:

Hello Centaurs, this is Barbara.

Sadly Marvin passed on August 11, 2019. He was diagnosed with lung cancer due to Agent Orange in February. He did not suffer long but waged a courageous battle.

He passed away peacefully at home.

Marvin was very proud of his service. His wish to be buried in Arlington Cemetery will be fulfilled in the spring. No date is confirmed yet.

I miss Marvin but I am thankful to have known him for 25 years. Barbara

From Jim Kirker: "I stayed in contact with CPT Marvin Runyon, and we used to have lunch in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He had a major impact on my life. I had great respect for him and the way he conducted himself. Many times in life I would ask myself, “what would Runyon do/think”. I feel I am a better person for knowing him."

From Ken Rucki: Best unit ever and CPT Marv Runyon gave me enough freedom to have my own crew, aircraft (494) and mission scheduling to enjoy the Vietnam training exercise .
