………………………………………………………………………………………………………

I went over as an 11Bravo (Infantryman) in September 1969. MAJ Frazier was the CO and CPT Simmons was the XO. Terry Branham was the Operations Officer.

I was wounded in November 1969 in the same explosion that a killed Darrel Pierce. We were in the Hobo or BoLoi Woods; can't remember which. One of our choppers medevaced the two of us out. Darrel died enroute. I went to Cam Ranh Bay; came back to the Troop about 30 days later, then went back to the field for awhile. At some pint an opening came available in the operations office and i asked for it; and for some reason got it.I spent the rest of my tour working there.

I came home October 16, 1970. I soured on the war after Darrel was killed. It seemed to me that it wasn't about freeing their country or takin and holding land; it was just about killing. An impossible situation. I don't want to offend anyone but that's the way I feel.

Some of the people I remember are John McCabe, Robert Brooks, Bill Byers, Andy Breland (badly wounded and sent to USA), Walker, JR West, WO Richard Reid, CW2 Andy Elliott and Steve Dobry who were killed, Rocky Rhodes, Grandpa (KIA) this one hurt as well. Memories fade after so many years. Twenty years after Nam I contacted Darrel's family and sent them some pictures. They seemed pleased. I was from Springfield, Illinois at the time. Jim
