Help through Volunteering or Donating

.....................................................................................................................................................................................

Donating: Yes, you can Help with a Donation if you like.

Membership Fees vs Donations:
We do not charge for membership. All Centaurs are full members just by having served in some capacity as a Centaur. Those of us doing this volunteer work have had requests for fees/donations up to our ears throughout our lives. We assume that everybody else is tired of it too. We don't mind donating to things that are important to us, and we all do.

We decided if what we are doing is important to others then they should have the opportunity to volunteer or chip in if they want to and if they can.

Once in a while we pass the hat to take care of a project so that no one person has to foot the total bill. For example we asked for donations for the printing and mailing of the original Centaurs In Vietnam DVD concerning the 1967-68 Centaurs. There was also the Memorial Bricks at Schofield Barracks (25th Inf Div Hawaii). Flowers have been sent to the families of Deceased Centaurs. Some Centaurs have done things on their own, just because they wanted to. All of this has been very informal and not tax deductible.

Treasurer?
Dale Dow, besides his many other duties for the Centaurs, has always informally handled the receiving and disbursement of moneys collected. He probably would not turn down a volunteer to take that over or at least assist him.

Those that want to help out with some bucks, and trust the Board to deal with it wisely, can send a check to Dale.

IRS?
We stay under the radar of the IRS by never exceeding a total of $5000 dollars. If our group gets real big then we will have to file paperwork for a 501c(19) Veterans Non Profit group. We would probably do that anyway if a Centaur popped up having the knowledge, skills and time to get that done (if that's you, email me).

Volunteering: There are many ways and many levels where you can help.
