Mattituck Man Dies In Viet Nam

A Mattituck youth who would have been 22 in June was reported dead February 10 from a herion overdose in Vietnam where he was serving as a helicopter mechanic.

PFC Frank W. Paulos, whose mother, Dorthy, lives on Sound Ave with her three other children, Richard 23, Katherine 18 and Jean Marie 8, volunteered to work on helicopters because he hoped that way to work up to become a helicopter pilot.

A graduate of the New York University at Farmingdale, he had worked as a mechanic on helicopters that sprayed local farms. His mother, who is divorced, said he had always loved tinkering with machines, and was the one who always kept the family car in repair.

His grades at Farmingdale, she said were excellent as they were at Mattituck Hight School where he was a member of the bowling team.

To the best of her knowledge she said he had never experimented with any drugs while at home.
