Info Sheet - Charles Vernon Morgan

United States Army Specialist 4 Charles V. Morgan served with F Troop (Air), 4th Cavalry Regiment. He was crew chief aboard a UH-1H Huey helicopter while assisting the recovery of two downed Air Force Pilots. The aircraft was hit with an SA-7 surface to air missile and crashed in an area heavy with North Vietnamese Army forces.

Three other crewmen; pilot, CWO William C. Jesse; co-pilot, WO John J. Petrilla and crew chief, Spec 4 Dale K. Porterfield were classified as Missing In Action along with passenger, CPT Joseph M. Berkson, an ARVN Advisor.

Seven week later, on 20 July 1972 the wreckage was located and their remains were recovered; and in early in 1973 he was identified.
