Garrett "Moose" Marcinkowski: When I came in to the troop in July 1968 Bill was already there and it didn't take long for me to consider him as a dynamic junior officer. He always had ideas to improve moral (remember the yellow scarves) to the building of the club as a place to relax. He was a great pilot and I flew front seat for him any number of times. He was always thinking ahead which stood him in good stead in the civilian world. We maintained contact over the years and his death at a young age hit me hard.

Bruce Powell: Bill was a fearless Gunpilot and a true hero. When I returned from 30 days extension leave in early Feb 68, I couldn't get out of Bien Hoa. TET had happened and everyone at Bien Hoa was in a panic. I went to one of the airfield control towers and put out a call on Centaur frequency. The last flyable Centaur gunship had finished a mission and received my call. The aircraft was still flying with many bullet holes in it. I don't remember who was flying left seat, but Bill was pilot in the right seat. When I jumped in the back Bill turned with his smiling face and greeted me. We had not met before, but I felt like I knew him. I will never forget that smiling face. Ours was a lasting friendship.
